The association "Les Passagers Du Vent" is a sand-yachting school guaranteed by te French Federation of Sand-yachting and is open all year round.
The association "Les Passagers Du Vent" welcomes all members of the public for one-hour or two-hour lessons as a first approach to discover our activity. You can also go on a training course which includes several two-hour lessons per person to improve your level. These lessons are given by two qualified instructors who have been teaching sand-yachting for several years. Sand-yachting is open to everyone and easy to learn. Whether you enjoy big thrills, are an experienced sportsman or a nature lover, you will enjoy going sand-yachting the minute you start and you will feel secure.
You can only go sand-yachting at low tide, so the lessons are given during specific hours. We strongly advise you book your lessons a few days in advance.
Bear in mind you will be asked to arrive half an hour before your lesson to get ready and prepare your sand-yacht. Count an extra half an hour after your lesson to put everything away.
As far as clothes are concerned we recommend you bring:
All members of the public who go sand-yachting with the association "Les Passagers Du Vent" are insured in case of accidents and for their civil liability by means of the insurance company of the French Federation fo Sand-yachting.

After a short explanation to teach you how to rig and adjust the sand-yacht, the instructor will set up different routes according to your level (and the conditions of the beach). You progress through the routes as your level improves. A short introduction to each route will be given on the new technical difficulty and the safety rules to observe. These sequences last between 10 to 15 minutes each. If the weather conditions are good, you will be taught how to stop your sand-yacht where you want and turn on both sides after a 40 minutes lesson.
The law imposes up to 12 sand-yachts on the beach per qualified instructor. There are two instructors, which enables us to welcome 24 people per hour, 48 people within two hours, 72 people within three hours and so on.
We're able to welcome up to 120 delegates per day if the low tide allows it.
For groups of more than 12 people we advise you share a sand-yacht between two people for two hours (two people drive the same sand-yacht in turn). That way each person goes sand-yachting for one hour. Observation is also a crucial element of all learning experience.
Here are two programmes we particularly suggest to workers' councils because we are aware of their inclination for outdoor activities:
Come and enjoy yourself on an eleven mile long sandy beach and appreciate the variety of flora and wildlife while you are going sand-yachting in a quiet and ecological vehicle.
If you're keen on going in for competitive sport, on your own or in a team, come and take part in an official race. You will be asked to go round on a apecific route as many times as possible in a lapse of time. May the best win!!!
Each programme will be preceded by an introduction or an assessment of your level. Only the instructors will be allowed to decide if they're possible, depending on the weather conditions of the day.
